He studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Exeter College, Oxford, where he became president of the Oxford Union in 19652. Tariq Ali rose to prominence in the 1960s as a vocal critic of imperialism and U.S. foreign policy, especially during the Vietnam War. He became a key figure in the New Left movement, contributing to publications like The Guardian, CounterPunch, and London Review of Books. He also edited the radical paper The Black Dwarf and ran for Parliament in 1974 as a candidate of the International Marxist Group2.
