Her grandfather served as an orchestra music director, and her grandmother sang in a church choir. She began learning piano at the age of five and had mastered the violin by eight. She also plays guitar, drums, and flute. Her early involvement in church shaped her music; she led worship by age 10, and her first songs were gospel-influenced.
