Makeba started her music career in the 1950s, performing with groups like the Manhattan Brothers and The Skylarks. She gained international recognition after appearing in the anti-apartheid film "Come Back, Africa" (1959), which led to her moving to the United States2. In 1960, the South African government revoked her passport, forcing her into exile for three decades. Her music blended Afropop, jazz, and traditional African sounds, and she became famous for songs like "Pata Pata" (1967) and "Soweto Blues" (1977)2. She won a Grammy Award in 1965 for her album "An Evening with Belafonte/Makeba", which she recorded with Harry Belafonte.
